Study case of Learning Management System

Today, in this post, I want to start to analyze one page: 

This website consists of e-learning packages for language and cultural preparation for a work based learning period abroad, funded with support of European Commission.

I like that page because is so easy to browsing. You can select some languages but if you use a Learning Management Site it possible to change some aspect:

For instance:

The design will be better, with another esthetic more in trend.

We can register and access with one name of user and passport. With that system you can see your mark that you can get in some tasks.

The structure to the main page will be better, improving the browsing.

The link between that website and social media can improve so the diffusion of the knowledge will increase and more people will follow the page.

JOOMLA vs Wordpress

After research some educational webside I would like to do a comparison between two different schools using different page or the content management system

From my point of view Wordpress is nice. It is very popular  and the majority of bloggers have their blog in that platform. It have different design and millions of extension as online shop.

Also, Joomla has the same advantage but the structure sometimes is simpler that Woordpress. For example in the next link: 

About the use, both platforms are very easy.

In respect of my use experience, and my knolodge my favorite platform is Wodpress.  Many time I listened for the expert that Wordpress are the best to get more SEO. In addition you can use free this platform with a lot extension (more than Joonla), because It is more popular.

JOOMLA

Joomla is one of the best software that keeps track of every piece of content on your Web site, much like your local public library keeps track of books and stores them. Content can be simple text, photos, music, video, documents, or just about anything you can think of.

It can be very useful to allow teachers give their students online documents.

One of the principal characteristic is that it is a open system and everybody can improve or develop the CMS so it is powerful to do a lot of online application.

Recommendation of marketing newsletter

Browsing on internet 6 years ago, I discovered one of the best internet pagesof marketing. As a good newspaper, this page publishes marketing and communication news of the main brand in all the word. It is available in some languages, Spanish and English are included.  

I read this page every morning while I am taking a breakfast and I usually show the most important news (accordint to the unit) to my pupils.

Comment some Applications

My favorite app is Google Currence which can be select good marketing news diary. Every week  all pupils should read and explain to the rest of the class one news, in this case, news of product using Google Currence .
Also I like “Marketing Handout, product” which is a lesson plan for printing. It will be the structure to follow by the teacher.
The teacher if you like, can show at the end of the unit , one infographic  using Visual.ly.

About E-book, I  prefer “How to Use twitter for business” because I read 6 moth ago . At the beginning of every unit, all pupils have to read one chapter and send me in group of 4 people the main ideas.

The purpose of these lessons is to encourage students to apply knowledge of the marketing mix to a variety of real life products and services. The intention is that students should take what they know and use that information in developing an understanding of the blending of the elements of the marketing mix. 

At the end of the lessons of this unit “product of marketing mix”, students should:

·         Understand the meaning of the 7 Ps in marketing

·         Understand the necessity of blending the elements of the marketing mix to achieve marketing objectives

·         Be able to apply judgement in placing significance on the elements for a variety of products and services

 Paint.NET: It is a Design editor

Soluto: It has tries to improve to start of your computer.
Evernote: Its function is the management of multimedia document
Rainlendar Lite: it is very useful to management your time.

¿What is cloud?

Cloud is one service to save information in a “cloud” it means the information is save on internet, in concretely, in one  server that anybody know where it is.

Cloud service is free price and free and easy access. Some companies like Apple, Amazon, Microsoft, and Google  Box, Carbonite, and Dropbox  have their cloud service which the user can upload and download documents.

It is very useful to have a copy of your document because it is easy to recover datas, even if your phone, tablet, or laptop is lost or stolen.

However, these companies can save that information in other country with another laws and, maybe can use your information to send your advertising or simply meet you and know your interest. Also, I remember whats happened with Megaupload, some people using the services to share link in order to download films, it is illegal!, but some people like me, we using to share link with our document store there, in the cloud…

I usually work with Google drive, it is very useful to do collaborate work because everybody can work in the same time and everyone can see what the other can do it.

Dropbox is nice to share information as photos that you want not to upload on social media. I started to use last week!

In my opinion, Facebook is something like cloud but everybody can see your document and Facebook can use your interest and your profile with commercial intention.

What is the methodology you would like to use in your lessons?

As some people Know, my goal is to be a marketing teacher in secondary school. The methodology that i would like use will be 50% of time´s class theory and 50%   exercises and real examples with feedback. Watch the last video promotion on one brand or to identify the mean of the campaign and why that is this time. For example, Gandia city has presented 2 beautiful girl in Fitur, a lot of channels tell what think is Gandia to promote their city in this way.
In my opinion the purpose is getting because everybody talk about that.  The position is clear, maybe the disadvantage will be that the tourism will be focus in young people.

In short, I would like to use :
Lecture and Discussion: Lectures and discussions are the traditional university methods of teaching theory to students

Case Study: This method emphasizes student participation and leadership rather than professor-led lecture and discussion.

Experiential Learning: Unlike the other classroom-bound styles of curriculum, experiential learning attempts to apply theories to real-world situations

This evening, I teach you how we can do word map. It is very simple:
 We only need to go application Wordle and write the word whatrever you want to have.
That application is nice to the principal page of one own glosary or one project.

Corpora

Do you know Corpora? Maybe the answer is no.
Corpora are compilations of oral and written texts that try to offer an

accurate spectrum of the use of a language in a diversity of situations.

I check 2 corpora with this expression “ up to you”

British National Corpus: http://corpus.byu.edu/bnc/
There are there 519 situations or examples to use this expression.

 Linguee (parallel corpora): http://www.linguee.es/

 There a lot of examples on bilingual way, Spanish- English and English-Spanish. It is modern design it can be used easier than British National Corpus.

If you check some day, you will discover that corpora are more useful in the case of expressions, prepositions, idioms and cultural references that Google translate.

Thesaurus

Thesaurus is one kind of dictionary, in concretely, of synonymous and antonyms. 
Today I want to examine the word  “Comunication”.
We can see a lot of synonymous:

The adequate word to choose will depend of the context.

Also we can see some antonyms, which are very difficult to know.

In conclusion, I think this entry will be useful to some teacher in order to grow up ther vocabulary.

Comparison of dictionaries

Depending of the word that I will look for and the topic, I look for in one dictionary or another.

 I  try to research definitions of “advertise” from some dictionaries:

From Oxford Dictionary:

·        describe or draw attention to (a product, service, or event) in a public medium in order to promote sales or attendance:

·        publicize information about (a vacancy):for every job we advertise we get a hundred applicants:

He advertised for dancers in the trade papers

From Webster Dictionary:

·        to make something known to : 

·        to make publicly and generally known  "advertising" their readiness to make concessions

·        to announce publicly especially by a printed notice or a broadcast

·        to call public attention to especially by emphasizing desirable qualities so as to arouse a desire to buy or patronize 

From Word Reference:

·        to present or praise (goods, a service, etc) to the public, esp in order to encourage sales

·        to make (something, such as a vacancy, article for sale, etc) publicly known, as to possible applicants, buyers, etc: to advertise a job

·        (intransitive) followed by for: to make a public request (for), esp in a newspaper, etc: she advertised for a cook

 All definitions from these dictionaries are very similar but I prefer to use Oxford dictionary because It has good examples of sentences with the word which I am looking for.

However when I checked learnersdictionary I saw more and better examples than on Oxford dictionary.

Estudents´ Needs

My personal curriculum describe me. I studied advertising and public relations degree, bachelor in business in international marketing and communications master. I would like to become a vocational education teacher in Professional Former or Jobs training about marketing.

-The official requirements are definited by “Real Decreto” 295/2004 20 of February next following sale activities.

 • UC0239_2: Sell products and services through to different communications channels
 • UC0240_2: Help during the sales process.
 • UC0241_2: Do customer services and customer care. Teacher are free to teach more vocabulary or less and make what words are more important than the other because the have personal experience in the fields.

Marketing and Tic in inglish

It is not very difficult to get some videos of marketing using Tic because the fields are very close. Advertising, which is a part of promotional marketing, is a way of communication where the experts discover news techniques and used new technologic. Probably, the marketing course was the first to be online, and the first to use platform like Unimooc. I choose this video because I like the voice,clear English and a lot of graphic slides, level of sound etc.

What is a blog?

My favourite blog is la criaturacreativa . I meet the blogger and I really like the topic and the language used. I know how the difficult is to have a good blog because I see connected daily the blogger connect in Facebook at 7 in the morning. The definition of blog from: Webopedia : Short for Web log, a blog is a Web page that serves as a publicly accessible personal journal for an individual. Typically updated daily, blogs often reflect the personality of the author Wikipedia: A blog is a discussion or informational site published on the World Wide Web and consisting of discrete entries ("posts") typically displayed in reverse chronological order. Searchwindevelopment: Blog is a personal online journal that is frequently updated and intended for general public consumption. Blogs are defined by their format: a series of entries posted to a single page in reverse-chronological order From my point of view the Blog is a personal information about one o more topic. Normally, the blogger start to talk as hobby and continue with passion and love. After some time, the blogger can be considered by the readers as expert. I was working in company, which aim was to create webside. I learned the important to write each sentences in the personal blog in order to increase the visit of your personal blog. It is very important don’t copy and paste nothing!
